Science department training
Who am I?
I have been training teachers and technicians alike for almost 7 years.
I have a wide knowledge of how a teacher setting runs but also a technicians domain too. I travel world wide, More recently to Spain for nearly a week to help a whole Science department based across numerous sites and then some 121 time with their technician.
Whether you are a MAT wanting to bring your teams together for a day of training or have a new technician with no experience, I can help.
Why me?
After working in my job role for almost 13 years I have a wide knowledge of how your setting will run. I know many of you will have technicians who have to cover all 3 sciences, and that your teachers may not teach in their subject specialism. I am here to help.
I listen to your needs and then I base your training around them. If you want a session for all on H&S but then a 121 session for your technicians the rest of the day I can do this.
For most session I can fit 30 people in a room. making this training accessible for all. You could get other schools involved to share the cost.
It happens at your establishment, which means the training is tailored to the environment you work in
Examples of training that can be done:
- H&S Audits- audit your labs, prep rooms and stores on things such as checking gas taps for blockage and for relevant fire safety kit/ spills kit and safe storage etc.
- H&S documents- making sure all of your policies and procedures are written, up to date and relevant.
- H&S standards in the department as a whole, Teacher roles, tech roles, whats allowed, what isn't.
- Technician training- ranging from your basics of lesson prep, right through to preparing things such as Bromine water or chlorine gas. Your technicians will feel like superheros when they finish the sessions.
- Curriculum lesson ideas and design- does your department need a revival? I have help schools and theme parks spruce up their department plans to engage the next generation of scientists
- STEM events- Space week, BSW

- Grant applications/ designs
